I have been representing the Friesland-Wilhelmshaven-Wittmund electoral district since 2005, with a short break. Besides that, I have always been actively involved in the communal politics of the CDU. I am married and I have a son. Representing my constituency and its voters is very important for me, so please feel free to contact me.

- from 1970 to 2005 worked as a construction specialist in a large construction company in Wilhelmshaven; about 30 years as General Manager and Commercial Director

- Mayor 1981-1991;
- Chairman of the CDU Zetel 1976-1992;
- 2002-2010 Chairman of the CDU Friesland;
- 1980-2011 Member of the District Council of Friesland;
- 2001-2011 Chairman of the parliamentary group of the CDU in the District Council of Friesland;
- Member of the German Bundestag from 2005 to 2009 and since 1 April 2010;
- Member of the Bundestag Committee on Transport, Building and Urban Affairs;
- substitute member of the Bundestag Committee for Education and Research;
- substitute member of the Bundestag Committee on EU Affairs;
- Deputy Chairman of the Coastal Committee of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group
